If you are running Mountain Lion, get the max amount of RAM. Mountain Lion eats it up - I have 4 GB and looking to upgrade to 8GB. I am using over 50% of my Ram most of the time and it slows down any large app. If you are doing large Excel sheet with math, It will use a lot of RAM and you will probable run into trouble. When I first received the MacPro I had Snow Leopard, 4GB worked just fine, But as I went up in OS system, the amount of RAM they used also went up. Get 8GB or higher if the new ones will take more. The max I can install is 8GB. - Good Luck
