Use the Computer Screen Lock feature to lock your computer screen while you are briefly away from your desk.

Windows

To lock your screen:

Using Parallels Workstation? To regain control of the mouse in OS X (freeing it from the virtual machine), the default key command is Control-Option (they call it Control-Alt), and then you have to move the window to do what you wanted to do on your Mac.

  1. Lock or Sleep Only Your Mac’s Screen. To lock your Mac’s screen, simultaneously press the following keys: Control + Shift + Eject.

Windows 10 Stuck On Preparing Automatic Repair

  1. Go to 'System Preferences.'
  2. Select 'Security & Privacy' from the first row.
  3. Under the general tab, check the box for 'Require password after (X number of seconds) after sleep or screen saver begins.'
  4. Click the back arrow to navigate back to the main 'System Preferences' page.
  5. Select 'Mission Control.'
  6. Choose 'Hot Corners' at the bottom left of the page.
  7. Choose a corner of the screen to be set as the start screen saver.
  8. To start the screen saver, simply move the mouse pointer to the corner you set.
  9. After the number of seconds you chose in step 3, your Mac will require your password to unlock.

  • Locking your computer keeps your computer and account secure during brief breaks.
  • It also eliminates the disruption of logging all the way out and then back in again.
  • When locking your computer, log all the way out if you will be away for a longer period of time (e.g., overnight or vacations) to avoid a dropped network connection and unsaved changes.
